Hare Krishna, here you will find the latest updates to this website.

Q: I understand that the Supreme Lord came in the Satya-Yuga as Kapila-Deva to teach meditation, as Krishna in the Dwapara-Yuga to teach temple devotion, and as Sri Krishna Chaitanya in the Kali-Yuga Mahaprabhu to teach the glories of Sankirtan. However, I am having difficulty finding the name of the red avatar who came in the Treta-Yuga to teach the mysteries of fire sacrifice. Could you tell me the name of this Yuga-Avatar?

The yuga avatar for Treta Yuga is Yajna, who appeared to Brahma to establish fire sacrifice as the process for self-realization.

Q: For long as I can remember, I have been a devotee of Lord Vishnu. On numerous occasions, I have seen him in my dreams talking to me. I am not a ritualistic individual any more, I don’t sit in my home temple because I have surpassed that stage. Is that a bad thing? I have my conversation with god every single day my heart is full of love for him. I asked him to show me a sign, the next week I spontaneously met Dalai Lama. Why does my soul burn to be with the supreme?

Q: Recently, I had a nice debate with one of my close devotee friends here in the Boston temple over the position on our home altar of a photo of Sri Yasoda-Damodara relative to the position on the same altar of a photo of Lakshmi Devi – the eternal consort of Lord Narayana. This led to the following questions which I will be very grateful to get answers for.

Our position is not safe but when one is in the shelter of the Supreme Lord that is the position of safety: the doubtless and fearless path, in the language of the Bhagavatam, akuto-bhayam (Srimad Bhagavatam, 2.1.11).

"When the heart becomes infused with determination, subservience, trust, surrender, and humility, it is situated in sraddha (faith). Sraddha is essential; it is the right position to receive the message of Krishna."

Prabhupada was asked, "Can you show some mystic power?"

Q: Lately I read the part of Mahabharata when Draupadi talked to Satyabama how she served her five husbands. She said she was the first to rise from bed and the last to take rest. She would never enjoy anything her husbands didn’t enjoy, nor would she perform any act disagreeable to them, among many others. I feel ashamed when thinking of her sacrifice and virtue. So what is an ideal wife like in this Kali yuga? How can we make the best of our role as a wife in this life?

Please refer to Digest 299

Q: I was listening to a Sunday class wherein the speaker said that in the spiritual world, everyone is individually associating with Lord Krishna as servant, friend, parent etc.

I was wondering does Krishna expand individually to associate with each and every living entity? For example, there could be millions of living entities in the mood of parent in Goloka. Does Krishna expand himself as a kid in each of the million households? Does he expand for each entity in the other rasas also or he is just one and millions of living entities are crowding to serve him?

As diversity grows, what is going to maintain the unity? Clear understanding of Prabhupada’s teachings, the message of the Founder-Acarya which is the message of the previous acaryas in a very simple form, with a particular mood. If ISKCON is going to continue, that is a must! And, I’m placing a responsibility on all of you. Please, take it seriously to understand the message of Prabhupada’s books. Why? To make sure that the International Society for Krishna Consciousness will go on even after the Prabhupada disciples are gone. Say it the opposite way: if you want to make sure that ISKCON does not continue, don’t carefully study Prabhupada’s books because it is sure to happen.

When a goal is very well-defined, then it is quite easy to take steps towards the goal and conversely, when the goal is not well defined it is very difficult to take steps towards the goal. It is very helpful to know what the goal is. Just as the goal of the message of Srimad Bhagvatam is defined in Srimad Bhagavatam as asraya, meaning Krsna. Krsna is the svasrayasraya (Srimad Bhagavatam 3.8.29, Purport). He is the shelter of everything else that gives shelter. He is the shelter of everything, so the goal is Krsna's shelter.
