Hare Krishna, here you will find the latest updates to this website.

Q: During the Ayodhya Yatra we heard that Vasistha destroyed all but one of the 100 sons of Visvamitra just by his mantra chanting (when Visvamitra had tried to drag Sabala away from Vasistha). Later it was mentioned that, for saving the life of Sunahsepa, Visvamitra requested his sons to sacrifice their life for Sunahsepa.

Sankirtan Yajna : It’s not a musical performance. It’s an offering to the Supreme Personality of Godhead of our voice and ourselves, to purify us. It relieves us of the contamination of just having a material body and existence, and it awakens our dormant propensity for love in service to Krsna. So, cleansing of negative attributes and reviving positive ones are both being accomplished simultaneously. Very simple and sublime process.

We are looking for a sense of completion within our life. When our heart is trying to feel complete without Krishna, it is never satisfied. In our efforts to become complete, we form relationship of love and try to make connection with others but we somehow never become complete. With this human life, we value our choices, freedom, and independence so we try in these different ways to obtain that sense of completeness. Love of Krishna is so complete that is ever expanding even while it’s being given away. Loving Krishna brings completeness and remembering Krishna means to love Him. All of this is done by chanting His Holy Name.

Q: Apparently one version of Ramayana indicates Mantara being severely admonished or even beaten by Shatrughna when he found out from a Minister that she was behind the intrigue of Ram’s banishment. Bharata stopped this. Can you verify?

It is by the mercy of the Lord that one gets the position of shelter. It is by the mercy of the Lord, which means it is by the mercy of the devotees of the Lord. When we get the mercy of the Lord, we get His shelter. And, by getting His shelter, we get His protection. We get everything – whatever is it that one needs. Just as Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita 9.22, yoga-ksemam vahamy aham: Whatever it is that one needs, Krishna supplies, and whatever one has, Krishna maintains. Krishna does that personally. It is a personal relationship. So, we have come to take shelter of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

Krishna exhibited His mercy potency, and Mother Yasoda served Krishna with great and increased sincerity. With the combination of these two, Krishna was bound. Vishwanath Chakravarti Thakur says that the “two inches too short” [of the rope used to try and bind Krishna] indicate that in any devotional activity two things are required; the sincere desire and effort of the devotee to serve Krishna, and Krishna’s mercy. Both must be there.

Krishna knows our hearts. He knows. And  when Krishna sees pride in the heart of the devotee, there may be some exchange between us and Krishna or some circumstance in life that is intended to help us become free from pride. If we are sincere devotees, we will have some understanding that Krishna is not pleased. One understanding is that Krishna wants that pride taken away from our heart, just like He did with Indra. So consider – what is that mountain of pride that dwells within our hearts?

In this world there is no enemy other than a mind that is not controlled. The enemy is within. The mind needs to go to Krishna. Within the instruction that the mind should go to Krishna, there is strength, intelligence (buddhi), Buddhi directs the mind. You will get buddhi when you show Krishna. “I want to be with You.” Then Krishna gives you buddhi, and you can direct the mind. Otherwise you can’t.
