We're not lacking in the answers to the how-to questions. That is not where we're lacking. We are lacking in hearing properly. If we could hear properly, we would have all the how-to answers, abundantly! A whole basket full of how-to answers! But we have beans in our ears. We can't hear. But that is how one can understand and come to the position of realizing Krsna through devotional service, through the medium of hearing, through sound vibration.

Our spiritual practices should always take a priority position. We may be attending to service -- everyday service or extraordinary service – but when attending to service, we should not become inattentive to the spiritual practices that are lifting us up. We are taking shelter of the hearing and chanting process; that is primary. That is what we are instructed to do. No matter what service is going on, that's our priority.

There is another important word that comes in Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.2.7. That word is asu. Asu is a reference of time, and it means “at once”. So, how long we have been chanting? And, how does this “at once” fit into that? The answer is that the full potency is there, “at once”. The Srimad-Bhagavatam describes that these messages, when properly heard and sung, act just like a highly potent drug injected intravenously. It goes at once throughout the whole body. It’s not like taking a pill which slowly dissolves and goes through the body. An IV medication at once goes into the body.

Here is a benediction that comes at the end of the chapter in Srimad-Bhagavatam wherein Krsna's killing of Putana is narrated. I will recite it at the beginning so we will all be very attentive. "Any person who hears with faith and devotion about how Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, killed Putana, and thus invests his hearing in such childhood pastimes of Krsna, certainly attains attachment to Govinda, the Supreme Original Person." So, would anyone like to get attachment for Govinda? Ok, so now we know what to do, right? Hear with faith and devotion, and attachment for Govinda will be we'll experience at the end.

The representative of Krsna can be seen as good as Krsna. He is surcharged with Krsna's potencies. That person's association is so valuable. That is why we should very very very very attentively hear whatever instructions come, because the potency is there. If we just happen to muster up enough attentiveness and humility to hear Prabhupada's purports, or his lectures, messages, or instructions in some way, and take them to heart…it's sufficient to liberate one completely, just in that moment! What to speak of regularly hearing?!

We do not speak something other than what we've heard, because doing so would be unchaste. To be chaste is to speak always that which
we've heard.
