Initiation: Process of Initiation

                                                                  Q. I am coming to realize that a ship without a captain can have no direction and could get lost; in the same way I'm constantly thinking of choosing a Guru to help me understand and lead my life in the proper guided direction. How to make this difficult choice with so many great learned spiritual teachers (Gurus) out there?

                                                                  Q. When you give 1st initiation you take all of your disciples Karma right, so if when you give 2nd initiation do you also take the karma that has accumulated in the time span between the two initiations or do you not take it until they are ready for the third initiation. This question has been a topic of debate also, but this time in my mind.

This is an interesting question -- to address this, let us first try to understand what is involved in the absolving of karma during initiation.

                                                                  Q. What is the process for initiation?

I will give you a simple answer, but also refer you to the multiple questions on this topic that you were previously answered in "Inquiries into the Absolute"; within the attached file I have included some of these Q/Answers.

                                                                  Q. 1. It is said in the scriptures that taking diksha is very important. In ISKCON we see many spiritual masters. How should one decide whom to choose?

Please see Digest 223 and our other discussions on the topic of Initiation, where similar questions are discussed.

                                                                  Q. 2. Should one choose spiritual master himself or wait for mercy of Lord in the form of Spiritual master? Sometimes it is also said that one should not be for long time without a spiritual master. Please guide.

Q: I'm a neophyte in the path of Bhakti. There are a few doubts, which are troubling me. Could you clarify them please? I was searching for the scriptural references to these statements. Prabhupada has said in a few places but I will be grateful for the scriptural references.
1.The reactions of the actions of the disciples is borne by the guru..If the disciple is not delivered, guru has to take birth again and again to liberate the disciple.
                                                                    2. Without getting formal initiation one doesn't get Krsna prema, even if he may get a lot of potency.

                                                                  Q. 1. When does the "devotional seed" get implanted in the heart. As soon as someone gets in contact with the Hare Krishna Mantra or when the Guru gives initiation?
