According to our experience, and also according to Krsna's teaching in Bhagavad-gita, the place in which we live is dukhalayam asasvatam; by nature, by design, it's a place of dukha, misery. So what to do when you want sukha in a place of dukha?

Transcending pain does not mean you don’t know it is there. But you don’t identify with it. One time Prabhupada looked at his body as if he was looking at his coat and said, "It is so old and useless; time to move on,"dismissing it as if it were an old garment, with that detachment. But he could feel whatever was going on. Becoming Krishna conscious does not mean becoming unconscious; it means becoming Krishna conscious.
