HH Romapada Swami in St. Louis Mar 2010

On March 4th, Maharaja arrived in St. Louis by car from Urbana-Champaign, a 3 hour drive away. He commenced extending his pure association to students at Washington University in St. Louis, presenting "You Are What You Eat". He began in a very humble mood commenting "dinner is the best part", and "I have a lot to live up to" after a short introduction. His inspiring presentation was uncompromising in sastric conclusions yet 'tasteful' to a western audience. His humble, yet persuasive personality is awe-inspiring and can only be balanced by deep Krishna consciousness. From him we hear that Srila Bhaktivinode Thakura had a similar mood.

ISKCON St. Louis

While we were still struggling with jet lag from our trip to Mayapur, His Holiness Romapada Swami Maharaja was travelling like a bolt of lightening. Within a week of arriving in the US, Maharaja came to St. Louis. For those of us that were unable to go to Mayapur, he brought Mayapur to us. What inestimable compassion is in the heart of this most beloved servant of Lord Caitanya!

ISKCON St. Louis Temple Deities

“Maharaja is coming to St. Louis!” I exclaimed. The atmosphere was extremely jubilant! It was the time when devotees began to clean their houses in an endeavor to make everything perfect in anticipation of Maharaja’s impending visit to St. Louis.

All too soon, the big day finally arrived, Friday April 8th, 2011. That evening’s home program was held at Kailash Prabhu and Anju Mataji’s house. Maharaja, seated on the Vyasasana, surrounded by devotees, was gracefully playing cymbals along with the kirtan, looking bright and effulgent as ever! Our hearts were so full just seeing him and being in his presence!

HH Romapada Swami in St. Louis Mar 2008

HH Romapada Swami arrived in St. Louis on March 22nd and went straight from the airport after a late arrival to a packed home program where, based on the authoritative statements of the Vedic literatures and great spiritual teachers, he conclusively established Lord Chaitanya to be none other than the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krishna. Most memorable part from his talk was the wonderful loving exchange between Lord Chaitanya, and Ramai Pandit and Advaita Acarya, who would not go to visit Lord Chaitanya unless He disclosed His divinity.

Maharaja then zoomed to the next home for taking his first meal of the day (lunch) followed by a series of discussions with various devotees, providing them his divine association along with spiritually potent advice and instructions.

HH Romapada Swami in St. Louis Dec 2007

After a very hectic tour of Chicago, Guru Maharaja continued his whirlwind tour onward to St. Louis. One of the highlights of the visit was the installation of Sri Sri Nitai Navadvipacandra (the Deity Forms of Lord Chaitanya and Lord Nityananda) at the home of his disciples, Yamuna Jivana das & Sri Radhika devi dasi. Guru Maharaja extended the transcendental nectar of Radha Kunda and Shyama Kunda in St. Louis as well.

HH Romapada Swami in St. Louis Dec 2009

Just three days after the Chicago Christmastime programs, the St. Louis New Year’s programs began. Since it was still winter vacation for us students, we decided to join His Holiness Romapada Swami Maharaja in St. Louis to kick off the New Year. A total of four cars—three minivans and one car—stuffed with Chicago devotees drove five hours south in order to receive the most nectarean association of Maharaja. We were all extremely excited to be able to hear from Maharaja for an extended period of time—first, in New York at Vyasa Puja, then in Chicago, and then again for the next 3 ½ days in St. Louis!
