HH Romapada Swami & HG Dravida Prabhu in Chicago Dec 2009

His Holiness Romapada Swami Maharaja was in Chicago from the 23rd to the 27th of December 2009. Maharaja spoke on some very interesting topics such as humility and self confidence, self-acceptance and self-improvement, specifically addressing the apparent paradox. For the youth, Maharaja spoke on discovering our identity and finding our voices in Krishna Consciousness.

All the programs took place in the Kishore Kishori temple, where many devotees were accommodated for the weekend retreat. By Guru Puja each morning, there were many devotees already present. Maharaja entered, and before we knew it, we were all singing “Jaya Radha Madhava.”

Sri Kishor Kishori, ISKCON Chicago

His Holiness Romapada Swami Maharaja's December 2008 visit to Chicago was one of the best experiences for all of the devotees!

Every day, everyone looked forward to Maharaja's classes and his association. From the virtual pilgrimages to Sri Mayapur dham, Radha Kunda and Syama Kunda, to lectures on Srimad Bhagavatam, it was truly a week of happiness!

Festival of Holy Name

The holy name of Krishna is the highest benediction. It is sweeter than the sweetest honey, and it is the fruit of transcendental knowledge of the tree of the entire Vedic scriptures -- Skanda Purana, Quoted in Hari Bhakti Vilasa (11.234)

Festival of Holy Name

The Festival of the Holy Name (FoHN) in Chicago, during the July 4th weekend, attracted numerous devotees (many more than last year!) from across the US who assembled with a single purpose: to go deeper into the chanting of the holy names of Lord Krishna, in the association of His devotees. The festival was organized by HH Romapada Swami Maharaja.

General Overview: I thank HH Romapada Swami, HH Candramauli Swami and HG Bada Hari Prabhu from the bottom of my heart for organizing such a wonderful festival of Holy Name, which truly inspired me in multiple ways. All Glories to the Vaishnavas who have struggled day and night to please Vaishnavas, Guru and Krishna for the successful organization of this festival. Truly speaking, I found this festival immensely meaningful in my sadhana (regulated practice of devotional service). This festival was a perfect combination of depth of the glories of holy name, ecstatic kirtans, upliftment and improvement in taste for chanting of Krishna's holy name.

Vyasa Puja Celebration

This was the first Vyasa Puja celebration held in Chicago for His Holiness Romapada Swami Maharaja! The local devotees were all very excited to be able to host this most auspicious event, and to have many opportunities to serve the devotees. The mood of Vyasa Puja this year was very sweet and loving, and all of the devotees seemed to be extremely happy and blissful by the end of the weekend.

A large number of devotees had returned from the South India Yatra scant days before, and were trying to overcome their jet lag to participate in the Vyasa Puja celebrations with full eagerness and attention. In fact, most of them had less than a week to get over the exhaustion from constant travel, sickness, and jet lag.

Sri Kishor Kishori, ISKCON Chicago

Guru Maharaj's* visit to Chicago during the Christmas weekend was very inspiring for everyone present. Although the inclement weather delayed his plane by multiple hours, Guru Maharaja came in to a packed program of close to 100 devotees eagerly awaiting to hear from him. After a very, very sweet "Jaya Radha Madhava" invocation, Guru Maharaja spoke a prelude class from Srimad Bhagavatam on the theme of "Effective Hearing." He commented that all the houses were decorated with lights for Christmas and here the devotees sitting all around and along the stairway were like even better decorations to have in one's house.
