Dear Mr. Bailey,

I am in due receipt of your letter No. AR-2732 of the 26th ultimo, and I am very glad to note your frankness to admit that you cannot go so far at present to disseminate the basic principles of Indian philosophies.

Indian philosophies mean generally the Sada Darsana or the six different schools of philosophers namely, 1. the Mimamsa, 2. Sankhya, 3. Nyaya, 4. Mayavada, 5. Patanjal and 6. the Vedanta.

Devotee: Prabhupada, a picture of Krsna is absolute, right? That is Krsna. Is the picture of a pure devotee absolute in the same way?

Prabhupada: Picture of devotee?

Devotee: A pure devotee.

Prabhupada: Yes.

Devotee: It's absolute in the same way that a picture...

Prabhupada: Yes.

Devotee: Let's say a picture of Prahlada Maharaja and Lord Nrsimhadeva is also... Prahlada is there as much as Lord Nrsimhadeva is.

In the morning on Juhu Beach many gentlemen used to walk their dogs. Srila Prabhupada pointed to a fat and fit gentleman walking with an equally fat and fit dog. the man was walking briskly and confidently with his dog on his leash, and the dog was walking equally briskly and confidently with his master by his side. Srila Prabhupada commented that every dog wants a good master. If the dog has a good master he is happy. He holds his head high; he wags his tail. He knows that his master will maintain and protect him, so he has no anxiety. But the street dog -- "The poor fellow has no master. Therefore he is always suffering." Srila Prabhupada then pointed to some stray dogs. "They have no master. They do not know where they will sleep, how they will get food.

"In answer to your second question, you should know that Arjuna and Kunti Devi are not in Krishna Loka. They are associated with Krishna eternally only in the material world. Just as Krishna is always in the spirit world and similarly He is always in the material world and His hobbies also happen there. In the material world, Krishna also has eternal associates such as Arjuna and Kunti Devi. There is a difference between body and soul of Arjuna and Kunti Devi. But while Arjuna is with Krishna in innumerable different material universes, while there is still only a spiritual soul who is Arjuna. This spiritual soul expands in many different bodies and so you can understand that there are also incarnations of devotees as well as incarnations of Krishna.

"Yes, this attitude of surrendering to the Spiritual Master is the best qualification of spreading this movement of Lord Caitanya. That is the Vedic way. One should have unflinching faith in Krsna and similarly in the Spiritual Master. That is the way of understanding the secret of Krsna Consciousness. Unfortunately, attempt has been made lately in our Society to shake this formula. This mischievous attempt has done a great harm, but if you the members of the Governing Body Commission can rectify this mischievous attempt, then still there is hope of making our progress uninterruptedly. I hope Krsna will help us.
