HH Romapada Swami conducts various retreats throughout the year including a spiritual retreat (with focus on a certain theme) during the Memorial Day weekend in Gita Nagari (PA), and two retreats on the chanting of the holy name - Festival of the Holy Name in Chicago (IL) during the July 4th weekend and Japa Enhancement Experience in Gita Nagari (PA) during the Labor Day weekend.
Maharaja invests his valuable time and energy in planning every small detail to make sure that every devotee is comfortable and receives the maximum benefit. He does this to provide us with an opportunity to completely focus on hearing the transcendental messages, and chanting the names and glories of the Supreme Lord in the association of devotees. Maharaja's enthusiasm to serve his beloved Spiritual Master, Srila Prabhupada, by engaging many souls in the process of Krishna consciousness specifically through hearing and chanting, is so contagious that it inundates our consciousness with transcendental bliss and fills our hearts with gratitude, happiness and joy.
HH Romapada Swami very compassionately extends the mercy of Sri Gita Nagari Dham to devotees every year, by conducting retreats. The spiritual vibrations of Gita Nagari have always provided devotees with an ideal setting to immerse themselves in Krishna-katha in the association of other devotees. Sri Gita Nagari dham is the quintessence of "simple living and high thinking". Without one's even trying, one is automatically transported to a transcendental realm of no worries (Vaikuntha) as one enters this sacred place. Our vision of the divine couple, Sri Sri Radha and Krishna, becomes clear and distinct as we see through our ears, when nectarean Krishna-katha emanating from the mouth of HH Romapada Swami and other advanced devotees enters our ears and imperceptibly burns away any obstructions from strengthening our relationship with Them. Gita Nagari is also the place where a dear disciple of Srila Prabhupada, HH Bhakti Tirtha Swami, entered samadhi. Devotees who attend Gita Nagari retreats experience a very wonderfully planned retreat which spiritually surcharges them.
Every year during memorial day weekend Gita Nagari retreat takes place. It spans over a period of 3 days. The appreciation and gratitude expressed by each and every person attending the Gita Nagari retreats is an indication of how eagerly we all look forward to this event each year. This retreat provides us with an opportunity to completely focus on hearing transcendental topics related to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Sri Krsna, in the association of devotees, nestled in the peaceful, serene setting of the holy dhama of Gita Nagari.
Camping, drama, and a variety of very creative outdoor activities are organized for the children.
HH Romapada Swami conducts Japa Retreat in Gita Nagari every year during labor day weekend. Japa Retreat is perfect opportunity to enhance your relationship with Holy Name! Those who attend Japa Retreats, benefit from the realizations of HH Romapada Swami after decades of dedication to the chanting of the Mahamantra. Devotees submerge in the nectar of the Holy Name in the tranquil setting of Sri Gita Nagari Dham and take sincere shelter of Sri Nama Prabhu at the lotus feet of Sri Sri Radha Damodara!
Japa Retreat gives one opportunity for hearing, chanting, dancing, singing, feasting, and associating with wonderful devotees!
We all can pray like this: "I am ready, on Your terms Krishna, please show me the way through this chanting of Your holy name that I can find myself more close to You in a deeper sense of relationship and connection with You in the form of Your holy name". So, be in the mode of receiving and be committed to the relationship with the holy name.
-- From a lecture by HH Romapada Swami titled 'Entering the Mood of the Retreat' during a Japa Retreat, delivered on September 2008 in Gita Nagari, Pennsylvania, US.
Please note: Due to the date of Radhastami, no Japa Retreat will be held in GN this Labor Day Weekend. Instead, for 2011, there will be mini-Japa Retreat in Houston.
At the Festival of Holy Name (FoHN), you experience the strong potency of the sound vibration of holy names, while congregationally chanting under the shelter of the followers of ISKCON Founder Acharya, His Divine Grace AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Along with chanting, one feels great joy while hearing about the glories of the Holy Names based on scriptures, singing and dancing in response to the truly devotional bhajans and kirtans, having loving exchanges with the kind-hearted devotees of the Lord, and honoring the sumptuous feast of Sri Krishna-prasadam. In the pure association of HH Romapada Swami and HG Bada Hari das, this is a retreat of a lifetime! The journey back to Godhead need not be a lonely one. And it cannot be. We can make it with each other's inspiration and association, and FoHN gives us that opportunity.
The Festival of Holy Name takes place in Chicago every year during July 4th weekend. His Holiness Romapada Swami Maharaja focuses on the theme of "Dependence upon the Holy Name". So by chanting of Krishna's holy name, the Hare Krishna maha-mantra, we are declaring our dependence on Krishna. ... So declaring one's dependence on the holy name means to pray to "let me become situated once again in my relationship of love on the spiritual plane, with You Krishna, eternally". That is the spiritual reality, where we are fully dependent upon Krishna.
