The month of Damodara is very special in our Vaisnava practice. This Kartik month is so special that any spiritual activity performed in this month is increased in spiritual value many times. Srila Rupa Goswami in his book, Bhakti Rasamrita Sindhu has described the importance of the month of Damodara.
Damodarastakam is composed by Satyamuni and it comes from Padma Purana. It is describing the wonderful pastime of Krsna being tied by the waist by Mother Yasoda. Rupa Goswami has recommended that Damodarastakam should be regularly recited during this month.
