Lakes in Minneapolis

Minnesota, located in the middle of the United States along its northern border with Canada, is known as the land of 10,000 lakes. In fact, there are so many lakes that the name Minnesota has its Native American origins meaning, “the sky reflected on water.” Minneapolis, the most populace city in Minnesota has a few of those 10,000 lakes within its borders.

Festival of Holy Name

The holy name of Krishna is the highest benediction. It is sweeter than the sweetest honey, and it is the fruit of transcendental knowledge of the tree of the entire Vedic scriptures -- Skanda Purana, Quoted in Hari Bhakti Vilasa (11.234)

Festival of Holy Name

The Festival of the Holy Name (FoHN) in Chicago, during the July 4th weekend, attracted numerous devotees (many more than last year!) from across the US who assembled with a single purpose: to go deeper into the chanting of the holy names of Lord Krishna, in the association of His devotees. Gita Nagari Sri Radha Damodar

Gita Nagari is in Juniata County, where the fertile land has lead to large settlements of agrarian communities like the Amish and Mennonites. In 1976, Srila Prabhupada desired to develop this place to exemplify the principle of “simple living and high thinking” and named this place as Gita Nagari – a village where ideals of Bhagavad Gita are lived.

The Retreat

The theme of the Retreat this year was Shikshastakam verse 3 – cultivating humility, tolerance, simplicity and respect.

HH Romapada Swami in St. Louis Mar 2008

HH Romapada Swami arrived in St. Louis on March 22nd and went straight from the airport after a late arrival to a packed home program where, based on the authoritative statements of the Vedic literatures and great spiritual teachers, he conclusively established Lord Chaitanya to be none other than the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krishna. Most memorable part from his talk was the wonderful loving exchange between Lord Chaitanya, and Ramai Pandit and Advaita Acarya, who would not go to visit Lord Chaitanya unless He disclosed His divinity.

Maharaja then zoomed to the next home for taking his first meal of the day (lunch) followed by a series of discussions with various devotees, providing them his divine association along with spiritually potent advice and instructions.
