HH Romapada Swami in Vrindavan 2009

His Holiness Romapada Swami Maharaja with great kindness extended his enlivening association to about 60 Indore devotees at Supreme Lord’s own abode from 30th January to 1st February 2009, speaking on Srimad Bhagavatam Canto 1 Chapter 14 & 15.

Maharaja was himself involved in proper organization of this seminar and was concerned that the attendees of the seminar got proper care and assistance, since it was too cold during that part of the year. Katwa is one of the most important places in Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu's lila as this is where He took sannyas (renounced order of life) to deliver the fallen conditioned souls. Maharaja started the lecture by showing an aerial view of the locations of these two holy places as well as Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu's journey to Katwa, a major metropolitan city during His time.

Sri Radha Govinda, New York

Today, an increasingly popular trend, among those seeking stress-free, peaceful and simple lives, far away from the chaos of modern society, is to flock (during weekends) to the hills and countryside of places like upstate New York. For materialists, temporary relief from mundane miseries comes through change of circumstances. But, for a Krishna conscious person, permanent relief from mundane miseries comes through a change of consciousness. Such a Krishna conscious devotee, who is an embodiment of simple life, is always happy and peaceful in all circumstances, be it in the serene environ of upstate NY or in the chaotic conditions of Brooklyn. A weekend spent in association with such a saint cannot be compared to any benediction in all the three worlds.

HH Romapada Swami in Boston Sept 2008

Firstly, I want to express my gratitude to Maharaja for the wonderful lectures and subsequent discussions. I consider myself fortunate to be able to hear from such personalities, despite my lack of qualification. The feeling is that we are not really qualified to appropriately receive and truly appreciate the message that is being conveyed - it is only due to the mercy of such elevated devotees that we are able to receive this sublime knowledge. However, if we do try to hear from such pure devotees attentively and with the right mood, then the message stays within the heart, and does influence us in a positive way.
