This story was heard in Mayapura in 1980. A man came to the ISKCON's Caitanya Candrodoya Mandira carrying with him a copy of the Back of Godhead article about Srila Prabhupada, entitled A Lifetime in Preparation.
MOSCOW: An ancient Vishnu idol has been found during excavation in an old village in Russia’s Volga region, raising questions about the prevalent view on the origin of ancient Russia. The idol found in Staraya (old) Maina village dates back to VII-X century AD. Staraya Maina village in Ulyanovsk region was a highly populated city 1700 years ago, much older than Kiev, so far believed to be the mother of all Russian cities. “We may consider it incredible, but we have ground to assert that Middle-Volga region was the original land of Ancient Rus. This is a hypothesis, but a hypothesis, which requires thorough research,” Reader of Ulyanovsk State University’s archaeology department Dr Alexander Kozhevin told state-run television Vesti.
Lord Caitanya's causless mercy isn't something mysterious, in one sense. It really enters the hearts of special souls via the medium of the sankirtan devotees. Thus everyone has an opportunity to remember Krishna, though they may be almost unaware of it.
About two weeks ago, coming back to Durban from Johannesburg, as usual I brought books with me on the bus. I began observing the passengers, who looked sleepy or else quite bored while staring out the window. I smiled at them, and in no time they smiled back.
"Now that looks better," I said and began asking people what their names are.
One Indian gent sitting next to his wife said that his name is Harrison.
"A devotee of the Lord cannot give up the service of the Lord, for he is ordered by his spiritual master. Pure devotees like Narada and Nityananda Prabhu take up the order of the spiritual master as the sustenance of life. They do not mind what becomes of the future of their lives." (SB 2.8.6, purport).

This is to brief you on up-to-date developments on the laws effecting ISKCON in Hungary.
As a result of international and national lobbying, including the international petition, the government amended the land laws in Hungary in such a way that whatever ISKCON's future legal status in Hungary--church or association--it retains ownership of Krsna Valleys lands. That was a clear cut victory.
During the course of lectures on Canto 3, teachings of Sankhya philosophy by Lord Kapiladeva, I have several times made mention of a study of Sankhya made by Prof Henry Stapp. Here is the pdf
Our literatures are unique in the world and we want to introduce our philosophy in learned circles, so your report of library distribution is good news for me. Keep trying to place my books in auspicious places such as libraries, universities, clubs, etc. and someday the world will realize and appreciate these transcendental literatures.
Letter to: Bhagavan -- Surat 18 December, 1970
I received one rumor that the Sankirtana parties in the US would soon be stopped by political repression and lack of money by the people. Someso-called devotee was thinking like that but you can assure all your men that I have great hope for Krishna Consciousness in America, more than any other place. And there is no question of repression provided we go on sincerely.

Hare Krishna Respected Vaishnavas: With immense sorrow and deep regret, I beg to report the departure of Her Grace Yamuna devi dasi, premier disciple of Srila Prabhupada, known for her deeply spiritual qualities and connection with His Divine Grace, for her glorious offering of the Govindam prayers that we hear and chant daily, for her love of pure kirtan, for her ecstatic award winning cook books which were infused with spiritual anecdotes, for greatly inspiring and encouraging the younger generation of ISKCON devotees in their KC, on this morning of Saphala Ekadasi, in her Melborne Beach Florida ashram-kutir which she shared with her dearest friend and companion in devotional service, Dina Tarini. I cannot even begin to describe this profound loss.
