Vakṣye kṛṣṇa-kathodayam – that which gives rise to the transcendental narration of Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. In the association of devotees, this is what will happen if we are associating with devotees properly. It gives rise to Krishna katha. But often we come into the association of devotees and it is something else. At the Detroit Ratha Yatra, it was a downpour. It stopped when we reached the park; then the park was a lake next to the river. As we were going along the roadway into the park, literally with water up to our ankles, the kirtan party was dancing and dancing and dancing as it wasn’t raining.

On a morning walk with Srila Prabhupada at Central Park in New York, we were on the East side of the park by 72nd street, where there is a pond and a children’s play area. Kids go there and put little sail boats and little toy motor boats in the pond. They have a hold around a statue of the famous storyteller/author Hans Christian Andersen. We walked around a couple of times and Prabhupada pointed with his cane, wanting to see what is North in the park. We took a little path and followed it to where it comes out, right before the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The atmarama verse is not only for worldly people but for transcendental personalities on the stage of perfection. Such persons are attracted because the topics of Urukrama attract even them.

Kurvanty means to do something for the benefit or pleasure of others, as opposed to material activities which means “I want and I do something to fulfill what I want.” That is called fruitive activity or karma. Different than karma is kurvanty. You do something not for yourself but out of love or for the benefit of others.  And the emphasis is on ahaituki.

A very focused attention should go to our love for Krishna. It is just one thing - love for Krishna. All other things are connected to that. You should not just imagine love for Krishna will be like this and it will feel like that. We have scripture that tells us, and we have sadhus that help us understand scripture.

The sense of suffering is in the mind. On the soul level, suffering is separation from Krishna. Because of separation from Krishna, I am not feeling happiness. I am missing that happiness. That is suffering.

Question: What determines how many births we need to take to go back home, back to Godhead?

The rules of the spiritual world are not the same as the rules of the material world. In the material world, someone is someone else's mother or father, and then they are gone. The relationship is gone. But there are relationships that are eternal, based upon the eternal identity of the soul. Krishna’s flute has a relationship with Krishna because everything in the spiritual world is conscious. Really exciting!
